Some of the quotes I am spending time with today:
“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” - Antonio Gramsci
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” -Rev. Dr. MLK
“We are all meant to be mothers of God.” - Meister Eckhart
“I know this life is a doorway to eternity, and yet my heart so often gets lost in petty anxieties. It forgets the great way home that lies before it.” - Sophie Scholl
“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” - Prologue to the Gospel According to John
“You shall not pass!” - Gandalf to the demon Balrog, The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien
What inspiration are you turning to?
Courage my dears. Love one another.
Super helpful compilation! I'm going to print this out for contemplation. The Gramsci quote seems especially appropriate to describe even the 24 hours we're currently in. I am so fearful for refugees and migrants (many live here in the orchard country where we are) and for our planet! The LA fires were Earth screaming at us. The evil that is swirling in the halls of power right now is terrifying - and does evoke scenes from Tolkien or C.S. Lewis. But this is no fantasy - the monster has a name, and he has foot soldiers with money and lust for power.
Well I watched The movie Selma in honor of MLK yesterday and it was a great movie - but it got me thinking of how we are going backwards in this country with the hate! But I will meditate and stay healthy thru all of this!
